A quick look around the MLB world to see what the latest rumors and rants are. Could Tampa Bay Rays CF B.J. Upton be on the move? How about Vladimir Gurrerro being moved out of Baltimore? Carlos Beltran to the Red Sox? Let’s investigate.

Over the weekend, rumors surfaced that the Tampa Bay Rays CF B.J. Upton has caught the eye of the Washington Nationals who are looking for a center fielder. Many Rays fans would say to the Nationals, “great, what ya got in return?” The Nationals appear to want to trade for a center fielder who can bat leadoff and add some production to the lineup. According to the above linked report, the Nationals have only gotten 2 home runs, 16 RBI’s a .226 BA and OBP of .291 from their mix at the position so far this season. Upton currently has 7 home runs, 26 RBI’s an OBP of .323 and a batting average of .228. Tampa Bay was in first place in the AL East on May 16th, but has since hit the skids and is currently 4 games out of first. If this slide continues, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Rays ship Upton to the Nationals by the trade deadline.

Is Vladimir Guerrero heading out of Baltimore? According to the Boston Globe, he seems to be showing up on a few National League teams radar. The Orioles DH is currently batting .290 with five home runs and 27 RBI’s.

Are the Boston Red Sox going to make another outfield move this year? The Red Sox are rumored to be interested in adding the switch hitting right fielder to their roster before the trade deadline. Of course, Boston made a big splash this offseason by inking former Tampa Bay Rays LF Carl Crawford to a $140 million dollar deal Crawford got off to a slow start with the Red Sox but he seems to be heating up as the season rolls along. Beltran is currently hitting .287 with 9 home runs and 33 RBI’s.
