Las Vegas oddsmakers like the Los Angeles Dodgers‘ chances of winning this years World Series and have made them 17/2 favorites to capture the title this season. It seems as if the Dodgers fans share the same enthusiasm for this year’s club as well. According to the Dodgers front office, a record number of season tickets have already been sold for the 2013 season.

The club has already sold 27,000 season tickets for the upcoming season. Team president Stan Kasten said the team expects to sell even more this season. “As new owners, we could not be more appreciative in this vote of confidence the fans are giving us, because they’re investing in us before we’ve won anything.”

In related Dodgers news, the team announced that SP Clayton Kershaw will be the team’s Opening Day pitcher for the third year in a row. Los Angeles opens the season at home against the San Francisco Giants on April 1. Kershaw told reporters that he was honored to be named the starter for the first game.

“It’s a huge honor and I’m excited to do it. Opening Day is an awesome atmosphere. I know there is added excitement. I expect the fans to be as awesome as always. And the Giants having won the World Series and that great rivalry, so there will be added stuff with that.”
