As the spring training season opens up, Major League Baseball fans from all teams (with perhaps a few exceptions) are looking forward to the start of a new season. Hope springs eternal at the start of the new season where all the teams are undefeated going into the year. At this time of the year, Las Vegas oddsmakers issue their over/under win total predictions for the upcoming season. The Atlantis Casino Resort have already issued their odds and there appears to be some value in a few of the picks this season.

Las Vegas has already made the Los Angeles Angels and the Los Angeles Dodgers as the favorites to win the World Series this year, and predictably, they are a top the win totals.

Here are the current over/under win totals for the year from every MLB team-

Detroit Tigers: 90
Los Angeles Dodgers: 90
Washington Nationals: 90
Los Angeles Angels: 89½
Cincinnati Reds: 88½
Texas Rangers: 87
Toronto Blue Jays: 86½
New York Yankees: 86½
San Francisco Giants: 86
Atlanta Braves: 86
Tampa Bay Rays: 86
St. Louis Cardinals: 85½
Oakland Athletics: 83
Philadelphia Phillies: 81½
Arizona Diamondbacks: 81½
Chicago White Sox: 80½
Milwaukee Brewers: 79½
Boston Red Sox: 79½
Kansas City Royals: 79
Pittsburgh Pirates: 79
Cleveland Indians: 77½
Baltimore Orioles: 76½
Seattle Mariners: 76½
San Diego Padres: 74½
New York Mets: 74
Chicago Cubs: 72
Colorado Rockies: 71½
Minnesota Twins: 64½
Miami Marlins: 64½
Houston Astros: 59½

There are five teams that I like on this list. This list features just three teams with 90 wins as a benchmark heading into this season. Last year, there were nine teams which logged 90 or more wins.

The Cincinnati Reds at 88 wins? They won 97 last season and they are going to be just four games above .500 this year? I really like the over here, even though Houston has shifted to the American League this season.

Los Angeles Angels at 90 wins. Have you seen this offensive lineup? The Astros jump to the AL West. Enough said, take the over.

Atlanta Braves at 86 wins. I think the Braves might win the NL East over the Washington Nationals this season. I love the over on this wager.

Tampa Bay Rays at 86 wins. The Rays have won 90 or more games in four of the last five seasons, failing to hit the mark in 2009 while recording 84 wins. The young pitching rotation should be able to pick up the slack of James Shield’s absence and Will Myers could inject some serious juice to the batting lineup when he gets the call in June to the bigs. Take the over.

Baltimore Orioles at 76 1/2 wins. This to me, is the best bet on the board. After posting 93 wins last season, the O’s are suddenly going to be sub-.500 in 2013 with some young talent? With the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees looking at down years, Baltimore should be a lock to win over 77 games this year.
