The San Francisco Giants announced Wednesday evening that they have signed RP Sergio Romo to a two-year deal worth a reported $9 million dollars. The deal allowed the Giants to wrap up all of their arbitration cases before any hearing were required. The move allows Romo to become a free agent after the 2014 season.
Romo recorded 14 saves last season for the Giants with a 1.79 ERA. He served as the Giants primary closer during the post-season with one win, four saves and a microscopic ERA of 0.84. He will now enter the 2013 campaign as the club’s primary closer heading into 2013. In his last three seasons, Romo has recorded a 203/29 K/BB ratio.
