The Toronto Blue Jays have made a flurry of moves this offseason and added the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner R. A. Dickey as one of those big moves. Dickey, 38, had a remarkable 2012 regular season, posting a 20-6 record along with a 2.73 ERA. Dickey struck out 230 batters in 233 2/3 innings as well last year.
This move was confirmed by Shi Davidi on Twitter, “Gibbons tells fans R.A. Dickey will start opening night against Cleveland. Morrow probably No.2, Buehrle, Johnson and Romero to follow.”
Toronto should have a formidable pitching staff in 2013. Along with Dickey, the Blue Jays added starting pitchers Josh Johnson along with Mark Buehrle to join Brandon Morrow and Ricky Romero.
